The Ultimate Watch

Hey.  Do you know what time it is?  I know I do!

I also know which direction is north, current barometric pressure, altitude, temperature, and tide and moon data.

But how, you ask?

I got a new watch.  That’s how.

A pleasant surprise for my birthday last month, my (awesome) girlfriend bought me the Casio Pro Trek with the titanium band, and I couldn’t be happier.

Do I really need all of these data points?  Of course not.  At least not on a normal day.  If I’m out enjoying the great outdoors in pursuit of wild trout, all of this data might be a little more useful.

But like cousin Eddie told Clark W. Griswold about this time back in 1989, “It’s the gift that keeps on giving, Clark”.

But this watch is way better than a membership to the “Jelly of the Month” club.

Here’s why I love it, and why I consider it the ultimate watch for the outdoorsman.

  1.  It looks good.  Let’s be honest, we all want to look sharp, even if we smell like fish.
  2.  Light weight.  I can hardly tell I’m wearing it until I need to know what time it is.  Or when the next full moon is.  Or barometric pressure.  Or the current temperature.
  3.  Solar powered.  Changing a watch battery sucks and it usually requires a trip to the jeweler.
  4.  The compass is awesome.  Never get lost in the woods again.
  5.  The LED back light makes it easy to see what’s going on in the dark.
  6.  Waterproof up to 200 meters.
  7.  Altimeter.  Because who doesn’t want to know how many meters you are above or below sea level RIGHT NOW?!
  8.  It’s classy enough that you can wear it with a suit.

The mountain man or fisherman in your life will love this watch as a Christmas gift.  I’m sure of it.  I’m pretty picky when it comes to the watch I’m sporting, and I love this watch.

Some people may prefer the model with the plastic band as it’s scratch resistant, but I’m really happy with the feel of the titanium.

Regardless of what band you choose, the outdoorsman in your life will love this watch, and it will be the best gift they receive this year.

Unless of course you’re shopping for a Ferrari, in which case, buy them this watch and a Rolex too.  And the Ferrari.
